The Deputy Prosecutor, Wan-Shaharuddin Wan-Ladin, said that Mohamad Shafrein Rasid and Mohamad Yusoffe Ishak, both 27, were arrested in 2014 in Kuala Lumpur after they tried to board an Istanbul-bound flight on their way to Syria.
They were sentenced to two years in prison on Wednesday in Kuala Lumpur after pleading guilty for attempting to join Islamic State militants in the Middle East.
