The campaign is aimed at encouraging the domestic tourism industry to be more friendly and accommodating toward international tourists visiting Seoul, and is in partial preparation for the "Visit Korea" year that is set to start next year. The "K-Smile" tourism promotion campaign was launched in Myeong-dong, Seoul's central shopping district, on Oct. 5.Cities and municipalities with tourism amenities have joined the campaign to help freshen Korea's tourism services, stretching from accommodations and transportation through to restaurants and shopping venues, to improve them and to make them friendlier with more "smiles." "More friendly service could make Korea a more attractive place to visit," said Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Kim Jongdeok at the ceremony to mark the campaign's launch. As part of the campaign, the "2015 Welcome Week for International Tourists" will continue until Oct. 9. Tourism information booths will be set up throughout the week and a variety of events and performances will be held across Seoul.
