sentenced one Joshua Sunday, 23, to six months imprisonment after he 
pleaded guilty to stealing N50,000 from one Olaoye Temitope.The Prosecutor, Sgt. Abdulkareem Mustapha, told the court that the 
convict committed the crime on Oct.13 at about 12.30 p.m. at Idiroko 
Road in Ota.Mustapha had alleged that the accused was caught in the act removing money from the complainant’s pocket.He said that Sunday was subsequently, handled over to the police.The prosecutor said that the offence contravened Section 390(9) of 
the Criminal Code Volume 1 of the Revised Laws of Ogun State, 2006. <br />

Nine-Year-Old Girl Infected With HIV After...

An Abeokuta Chief Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday remanded a 29-year-old man, Morufu Sofoluwe, in prison custody for allegedly raping his nine-year-old neighbour’s daughter and infecting her with HIV.<br />

 “The nine-year-old girl, who had been sick for a while, was taken to the hospital on August 28, where some tests were carried out and the results indicated that she has HIV.

“After questioning, the victim later told her parents that the accused was the one that raped her.<br />

The Prosecutor, Insp. Sunday Eigbejiale, told the court that the offence was committed sometime in July at Isale-Abetu in Abeokuta. Eigbejiale said the accused person lured the victim, whose parents were his neighbour into his room and had carnal knowledge of her.<br />

The accused had also been diagnosed of HIV,” the prosecutor said.

He said the offence contravened Section 218 of the Criminal Laws of Ogun State, 2006.

The court did not take the plea of the accused.<br />

 The Chief Magistrate, Mr Anthony Araba, ordered that the accused be remanded in Oba Prison pending the advice by the Director of Public Prosecution.

Araba adjourned the case till October 30.
