The unnamed man, 
who had apparently killed the girl by slamming her into a   brick wall, 
demonstrated to detectives how he shoved her into the   incinerator 
using a life-size dummy.The re-enactment took place when child protection services realised the girl   had gone missing.After
 questioning, her stepdad admitted murdering the girl after losing his  
 temper and flinging her across the room of their home in Verki when she
 took   a bite of his halva.Child protection officers said the 
girl had been regularly abused for   disobedience and her parents had 
tied her hands, assaulted her and kicked   her out of the house for 
being naughty.After the killing, the father carried her body to their former house, which   was empty, lit the stove and threw her in.He told police he had to come back every two hours to pile more wood onto the   fire.Both of the parents are currently under arrest and a court will deliver their   sentences in the next few months.<br />

The Code of Conduct Tribunal, CCT, sitting in Abuja has ordered the Inspector General of Police, IGP, Mr. Solomon Arase and other relevant security agencies in ‎the country to arrest the Senate President, Dr. Bukola Saraki.

In a ruling this afternoon, the tribunal headed by Justice Danladi Umar issued a bench warrant against Saraki following his refusal to appear in court to face a 13-count criminal charge that was preferred against him by the Federal Ministry of Justice.FG had through a deputy director in the office of the Attorney General of the Federation, Mr. M.S. Hassan, asked the tribunal to order Saraki’s arrest.

‎Saraki who was billed for arraignment this morning, sent his team of lawyers to serve the tribunal with a copy of the ruling of Justice Ahmed Mohammed of the Abuja Division of the Federal High Court, yesterday, which summoned the Ministry of Justice to appear on Monday to show cause why the trial should be allowed to proceed.

Equally summoned by the court were the Chairman of the tribunal, Justice Danladi Umar and that of the Code of Conduct Bureau, CCB, Mr. Sam Saba, as well as Mr. Hassan who signed the charge against Saraki.

Meanwhile, irked by Saraki’s absence at the tribunal for the commencement of his prosecution over alleged false declaration of assets, the Ministry of Justice prayed the Justice Umar-led panel to order for his arrest, saying “he cannot sit in the comfort of his chamber and object to his trial in absentia”.

The prosecution further maintained that Justice Mohammed lacked the powers to summon ‎the CCT and CCB chairmen, even as it accused Saraki of engaging in “forum shopping” in a desperate bid to scuttle his trial.

Meanwhile, Saraki has through his lawyer, begged the tribunal to consider his position as the Senate President and stay the execution of the arrest warrant, saying he would be available for trial on Monday.

His plea was refused by Justice Umar who maintained that the accused person, having sworn to protect the constitution, ought to have shown respect to the tribunal by appearing before it today.

Ibrahim Ayelangbe was remanded for biting off police officer’s ear

The prosecutor, Insp Benson Emuerhi, told the court that the accused viciously assaulted Cpl. Ebere Nwogidi on July 10 at 3:00am. He said the accused was caught trying to gain entrance into No. 21, Temple Road, Ikoyi, Lagos, when he was accosted. “Ayelangbe was caught while trying to jump a fence into a private residence at Ikoyi.<br />

An Ikeja Chief Magistrates’ Court in Lagos on Monday remanded one Ibrahim Ayelangbe in prison custody for biting off a police officer’s ear.

The News Agency of Nigeria reports that the Magistrate, Mrs Oluwadamilola Olanipekun, gave the order following the guilty plea of the accused when the charge was read to him.

Ayelangbe, 27, whose address is not known, is facing three charges bordering on unlawful entry and grievous assault.<br />

 “The accused attempted to escape from Cpl. Omede Isaiah and one Ebere Nwogidi led to a scuffle. “Ayelangbe then bit off the left ear of Nwogidi,” Emuerhi said.

The prosecutor said the offences contravened Sections 172, 243 and 306 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2011.

NAN reports that Section 172 provides three years imprisonment for anyone found guilty.

Olanipekun adjourned the case till October 2 for hearing and verdict.
