Leftist rebels of the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia has appealed for support from Pope Francis to organise a day for peace in Colombia.“We would like to ask you today to keep spreading the goodnews of peace in Colombia,” FARC said in a statement.

On Sunday, the pontiff advocated peace in the South American country during his visit to Cuba, where the Colombian government and FARC have been holding peace talks for almost three years.

The pontiff asked for “definitive peace” in Colombia.
