The Vice Chancellor, KSUST, Prof. Shehu Musa, told newsmen in Wudil on Tuesday that such assistance was necessary to save the institution from the massive threat posed by the flood.The Kano State University of Science and Technology, Wudil, has solicited the assistance of the Ecological Fund to combat flooding in the institution.The interactive session with the newsmen was part of the activities to mark the 15th anniversary of the institution.“Flooding is one of the major challenges threatening the university; we have had to battle with it every year,” he said.Musa, who declined to state the amount needed by the institution, said the proposal had been submitted to the Fund for approval.“The Ecological Fund has promised to support the university to check the incessant flooding threatening the institution.He added that as soon as the money was released, it would be used to address the problem.The vice chancellor disclosed that the university had conducted research on Irish potatoes and beans and had confirmed the species that were best suited for cultivation in the state.
