Ifa Worshippers Will Defeat Boko Haram.

The Chairman, Executive Working Committee of ARSADIC, Dr. Olalekan 
Ifagbenuola, said this on Friday at a press conference held at Ile 
Oduduwa, Ile Ife, to seek government recognition for the group.
Ifagbenuola stated that corruption among public office holders was the 
reason for the increasing rate of crimes in the country, saying this 
would stop if public office holders were made to take the oath of office
 in traditional religious ways.Ifa religious worshippers under the aegis of Ancient Religion 
Societies of African Descendants International Council have said they 
are ready to assist Nigeria to combat the Boko Haram insurgents ravaging
 some states in the North-East.
He said, “If proper oath of allegiance is taken genuinely, our leaders 
would not misbehave when they get to power. If the oath is taken in a 
traditional religious way, they will not misbehave. There must be fear 
of God in anything we do.
“Corrupt leaders in offices promote crimes and if our leaders are 
honest, the level of crime in the country will greatly reduce. We are 
ready to assist to tackle insurgency, if we are invited by the 
government.”
He said that the problems confronting the nation should be tackle with 
seriousness because there could be no meaningful development in an 
atmosphere devoid of peace.
According to him, the umbrella body of the traditional religion 
worshippers was formerly known as Ancient Religion Societies of African 
Descendants Association and was registered under companies ordinance in 
1957.
He, however, stated that there had been a proliferation of traditional 
religion associations in Nigeria and all over the world but said the 
traditional worshippers had resolved to one formidable association. “We call on the Federal Government of Nigeria in this era of change to 
follow suit and give due recognition to the ancient religions.Ifagbenuola described religion as an important instrument for 
development in any nation, saying successful nations, including China 
and South Africa,   had given recognition to all notable religions.We must 
quickly state that Nigeria is a complex nation of diverse group of 
people and culture; therefore, there would be more than one ancient 
religion in existence,” he added.

PARIS–President Muhammadu Buhari on Tuesday in France stated that his government has kicked off negotiations with Boko Haram to secure the release of over 200 Chibok girls.

It will be recalled that about 219 school girls were abducted by the Sect from their school in Chibok Community, Borno State over a year ago.

Speaking with members of the Nigerian community in France under the auspices of Nigerians in Diaspora Organisation (NIDO), president who is currently on a three day official visit to the frnech country stated that the global attention and sympathy the ugly incident has attracted informed the negotiation.

He however disclosed that the government was making frantic effort to determine the genuine leaders of the group.

President Buhari also vowed not to release the developer of the Sect’s IED’s which according to him was a condition advanced by the Group of releasing the girls.

He said: “The issue of Chibok girls has occupied our minds and because of the international attention it drew and the sympathy through out the country and the world, the government is negotiating with some of the Boko Haram leadership.”

“It is a very sensitive development in the sense that first we have to establish, are they genuine leaders of the Boko Haram. That is number one. Number two, what are their terms, the first impression we had was not very encouraging.

“They wanted us to release one of their leaders who is a strategic person in developing and making Improvised IEDs that is causing a lot of havoc in the country by blowing people in Churches, Mosque, market places, motor parks and other places. But is very important that if we are going to talk to any body, we have to know how much he is worth.

According to him, “Let them bring all the girls and then, we will be prepared to negotiate, I will allow them to come back to Nigeria or to be absolved in the community. We have to be very careful, the concern we have for the Chibok girls, one only imagine if they got a daughter there between 14 and 18 and for more than one and a half year, a lot of the parents who have died would rather see the graves of their daughters rather the condition they imagine they are in.”

He added that “This has drawn a lot of sympathy though out the world, that is why this government is getting very hard in negotiating and getting the balance of those who are alive.”

President Buhari also assured the Nigerian community that his government would revitalise the economy and restore the glory days of Nigeria.

Some members who fielded questions requested the president to factor in the sufferings of the disabled in the Country just as they also asked to be accorded voting rights during elections.

Addressing members of the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) who marched to the Presidential Villa to pledge their full support for his anti-corruption campaign, President Buhari who was represented by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Mr. Femi Adesina promised to make Nigeria a country where the youth would realize their aspirations.<br />

President Muhammadu Buhari has assured to evolve a country that will secure the future of the Nigerian youth. He stated that Abuja that the ongoing anti-corruption campaign was a good way to start.<br />

 “You can be assured that your welfare and well-being are topmost in our minds and very soon you will see the things we have promised come to fruition.

“During the campaigns, change was our slogan, but today it is no longer a mere slogan, it is now a reality and we will see it in every facet of our lives.<br />

 He said: “Everything you have asked for are the things that will make for a good country, and what we are after is a good country, a country where our youths can have a future and a hope. “We are totally committed to building a country where our youths can realize their full potential.<br />

Reading from a document, NANS President, Comrade Tijani Usman Shehu, who led the students said that Nigerian youth needed a secure future.<br />

 Shehu further remarked that the students were united against corruption, cyber crime, prostitution, human trafficking, drug abuse and other anti-social vices.“Nigerian students demand that our future must be secured and we strongly believe in the President’s zero tolerance for corruption,’’ he said.
